Species recognition. This species is recognized by the overall brown color and the presence of a loop-shaped membranous area on the hind femur.
Description. Body length: 1.44–1.94 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, dark brown. Palpus slightly enlarged, inflated, brown. Thorax: Scutum brown. Scutellum dark brown, with setae broken. Pleuron brown. Mean costal length 0.49 wing length, range 0.47– 0.5. Halter light brown. Legs light brown. Forecoxa in lateral view light brown. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa brown. Hind coxal lobe light brown, short, with ventral, dorsally curved, bare digitiform process. Posterior face of hind femur with peglike setae forming dorsal and ventral line, in some specimens with one or two setae between lines; more distally with whitemembrane-filled loop ( Figs 107–108, 282). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia brown, cercus yellow.
Distribution. Amazonian Brazil and French Guiana.
Derivation of specific epithet. From a Greek word for scorched, referring to the dark brown color of this species.
Holotype. ♂, FRENCH GUIANA: l’Oyapock : St. Georges de l’Oyapock, 3.88°N, 51.68°N, 7–9.ii.2006, P. Cerdan, Malaise trap [ LACM ENT 236605 About LACM ] ( LACM).
