Species recognition. This species differs from D. lamasi by the larger concavity and the deeper, arrowheadshaped group of peglike setae.

Description. Body length: 2.09 mm. Head: Frons brown, second row of setae concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, light brown. Palpus of normal size, orange. Thorax: Scutum light brown. Scutellum dark brown, with setae broken. Pleuron with proepisternum and dorsum of anepisternum brown, rest of pleuron yellowish-brown. Costa 0.45 wing length. Halter yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa yellow. Hind coxal lobe light brown, short, with ventral projection. Posterior face of hind femur with elongate, arrowheadshaped basal group of peglike setae; concavity large, oval, with large basal and distal white membranous areas ( Figs 161–162, 292). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 brown, tergites 2–6 with tergite 2 yellow anteriorly and brown posteriorly; subsequent tergites with decreasing yellow areas. Venter of abdomen whitish-gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia with epandrium yellowish-brown, hypandrium brown, and cercus yellow.

Distribution. Known from a single site in French Guiana.

Derivation of specific epithet. From Greek for “arrowhead” referring to the shape of the group of peglike setae on the hind femur.
