Dohrniphora shannoni View in CoL group

Diagnosis. Posterior face of hind femur with elongate basal group of peglike setae with more distal shallow concavity with carinate toothlike process as distal margin.

Variation occurs in the pattern and density of setae, the presence and length of the basal carina, the size of the toothlike process, the shape of the ventral margin of the hind femur below the setae, and the presence of spinuli within the concavity. Nearly every location sampled has its own small variants, most of which we are combining under the name D. mixtura . Some, however, seem to involve more than one character, are stable across large geographic distances, or co-occur without intermediates with D. mixtura , and thus we are hypothesizing that they represent separate species. Clearly, this group needs much further sampling and study.

Included species. Dohrniphora mixtura , D. segregata , D. shannoni , and D. spinulicava .
