Dohrniphora subsulcata Borgmeier & Prado View in CoL
( Fig. 277)
Dohrniphora subsulcata Borgmeier & Prado, 1975: 21–22 View in CoL , fig. 32.
Holotype. ♂, BRAZIL: Pernambuco: Recife, Horto Dois Irmãos , xi.1969, H.S. Lopes ( MZSP; not examined). The specimen has not yet been returned to the MZSP, so was unavailable for study.
Recognition. Borgmeier & Prado compared this species to D. canaliculata because of the elongate, tapering depression distal to the peglike setae, but many other species have this structure. The hind femur of D. canaliculata has a more defined, carinate ventral concavity that is filled with spinuli ( Fig. 228). Amongst our material, the species most closely resembling the illustration of D. subsulcata is D. minilobata , a species apparently with a smaller depression and a darker pleuron. Until we can examine the holotype of D. subsulcata , we cannot be sure if the apparent differences between the two are substantial or not.
Previously ( Brown & Kung, 2007) we commented on the differences between D. subsulcata and D. polleti Brown & Kung.
