Harpalus vespertinus Casey, 1884b: 10. Type locality: «Arizona» (original citation). Lectotype [as holotype] (♂), designated by Noonan (1991: 143), in USNM [# 47826]. Synonymy established by Noonan (1991: 143).

Harpalus fractus Casey, 1924: 107. Type locality: "Akron [Washington County], Colorado" (original citation). Lectotype (♂), designated by Noonan (1991: 143), in USNM [# 47838]. Synonymy established by Noonan (1991: 143).

Harpalus provensis Casey, 1924: 113. Type locality: "North Fork, Provo Cañon [Utah County], Utah" (original citation). Lectotype (♂), designated by Noonan (1991: 143), in USNM [# 47834]. Synonymy established by Noonan (1991: 143).

Distribution.

The range of this species extends from central Alberta and southern Saskatchewan south to southwestern Texas and southeastern Arizona; seemingly isolated in Minnesota (Gandhi et al. 2005: 930) and northwestern Oregon [see Noonan 1991: Fig. 287]; also recorded from northern Sonora in Mexico (Bates 1884: 271).
