males, 40 females, Bogotá, Parque Nacional Natural Chingaza, Sendero Suasie [4.677046, –73.89789] (J Cepeda leg; August 2001; ICN-AR 3505) GoogleMaps ; one female, same locality (J Cepeda leg; 24 March 2003, ch; ICN-AR 4004) GoogleMaps
Diagnosis: Males of J. obscurus can be distinguished from its congeners by having the RC projections entirely fused, resulting in a single structure, whereas its components cannot be singled out ( Fig. 14C). Females can be distinguished from all other species by its dorsoventrally flattened epigynal lobes, and the scape, which is parallel to the symmetry axis instead of perpendicular or orthogonal ( Fig. 15C).
Description: Female (from Cundinamarca, TSM 416). Total length 2.20. Prosoma 0.91 long, 0.74 wide. Prosoma height 0.71, fovea height 0.70. Opisthosoma 1.29 long, 1.20 wide, 1.97 high. Clypeus height 0.11. AME 0.03, ALE 0.03, PME 0.04, PLE 0.06. Femur I 1.42 (1.56× prosoma length), Metatarsus I 1.55, TmI 0.18. Prosoma varying from dark to light yellow, with a dark grey line on the median line and the margins of the carapace. Sternum dark brown. Opisthosoma dark grey with a large white guanine line on the sides. Legs dark yellow with annuli in all segments ( Fig. 8A–D). Epigynum oval. Scape short, parallel to the symmetry axis, with no socket. CO opens medially. Spermatheca small, falciform. FD short and thick, without any spiral, exiting the epigynum dorsally.
Male (from Cundinamarca, TSM 415). Total length 1.95. Prosoma 0.94 long, 0.78 wide. Prosoma height 0.93, fovea height 0.75. Opisthosoma 1.01 long, 0.67 wide, 1.01 high. Clypeus height 0.17. AME 0.02, ALE 0.02, PME 0.04, PLE 0.03. Femur I 1.63 (1.74× prosoma length), Metatarsus I 2.22, TmI 0.12. Prosoma varying from dark to light yellow, with a dark grey line on the median line and the margins of the carapace. Sternum dark brown. Opisthosoma dark grey on the dorsum and venter, but light grey laterally, with white guanine spots, sparkled on the sides. Legs dark yellow with annuli in all segments ( Fig. 9A–D). DSA, small, thin projecting outwards. EM large, triangular shape. Radical complex fused in all its extension that curves inward, in spiral, ending right below the EM ( Fig. 9E–H).
Distribution: COLOMBIA: Cundinamarca; Putumayo ( Fig. 18C).
