( Figs. 22–24 View FIGURE 22 View FIGURE 23 View FIGURE 24 )

Arya rubrolineata Distant, 1908: 338 , Fig. 215; Evans, 1947: 229; Li & Wang, 1991: 210. Aconura rubrofasciata Matsumura, 1914: 230 View in CoL , syn. nov.

Doratulina rubrolineata, Vilbaste, 1965: 10 View in CoL .

Stirellus rubrolineatus, Emeljanov, 1962: 238 View in CoL ; Day & Fletcher, 1994: 1199. Doratulina rubrolineata, Zahniser & Nielson, 2012: 49 View in CoL .

Length. Male: 4.8–5.1mm.

Color. General color tannish ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 ), pale sordid yellow in older museum specimens. Vertex with transverse band interrupted medially and two dots under the band, orange-red to brownish red ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 A–B). Frontoclypeus with two black markings on each side just below antennal sockets ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 D).

Body. Head narrower than pronotum, anterior margin rounded to face, rounded. Vertex nearly as long as width between eyes ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 A–B). Ocellus next to eye on anterior margin ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 C). Eye relatively large ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 A–B). Apex of anteclypeus widened, extending beyond normal curve of genae ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 D). Pronotum median length slightly longer than median length of crown. Mesonotum and scutellum shorter than pronotum ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 A–B). Forewing macropterous ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 A–C).

Male. Pygofer side without macrosetae, apex as Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 A ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 A–B). Subgenital plate rounded laterally, macrosetae uniseriate laterally ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 D). Style narrow, apophysis usually thick, thumb-like, laterally curved ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 E–G), sometimes apophysis slightly more slender ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 G, China male). Connective stem shorter than arms ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 H). Aedeagal shaft bent at near base, long, tip slightly curved dorsad, parallel to aedeagal base ( Fig. 23 View FIGURE 23 I– K).

Material examined. Lectotype: Ƌ, here designated, of Arya rubrolineata Distant , India, Calcutta , 23 August 0 7, Mus. Coll., Distant Coll. 1911–383 ( BMNH) . Paralectotypes: 2♀, same data as lectotype, except 5 August 0 7, 16 November 07; 1Ƌ (in poor condition), India, L. Bengal, Barrackpore, N. A., 11 August 0 7, Mus. Coll., Dist. Coll. 1911–383, with Distant’s type determination label and red type disc ( BMNH) . Other material: 2Ƌ, China, Hainan Prov., Bawangling , 27 May 1983, coll. Zhang Yalin.

Distribution. India; China (Guizhou, Hainan, Taiwan).

Remarks. This species was described from an unknown number of specimens (syntypes) from India with the following data: “ Calcutta , Barrackpore ( Annandale , Ind. Mus. & Coll. Dist.)”. Two male and two female syntypes are present in the BMNH of which the most complete male (Calcutta, remounted on a card) is selected as lectotype . The two type series males differ from the Chinese material in having the aedeagal shaft slightly incurved at midlength and the pygofer slightly more elongate and upturned apically in lateral view. Aconura rubrofasciata Matsumura is placed as a junior synonym based on images seen of the type habitus and genitalia ( Fig. 24 View FIGURE 24 ) which match our Chinese material. It was described from a single male specimen (holotype) from Taiwan. This species can be distinguished from other congeners from China by the vertex with a transverse band interrupted medially and two dots under the band, orange-red to brownish red ( Fig. 22 View FIGURE 22 A–B).
