Only one of the eight species of this genus is reported for Ecuador ( Fig. 50 View FIGURE 50 ). Species identification is based on Kennedy (1941a). Habitat appears to be slow, almost pooled stretches of small shaded streams, although very little is known of the biology.

Perissolestes Kennedy, 1941
Very similar to Perilestes in appearance ( Fig. 51 View FIGURE 51 ) and reclusive behavior. Male cerci are white instead of the dark col- or of Perilestes. Five of the 11 species are recorded in Ecuador. For identification, see Kennedy (1937b, 1941a).
