Notes:

Bolton (1995) and Bolton et al. (2006) erroneously considered Temnothorax melanocephalus as a junior synonym of Temnothorax tuberum , referring this synonymy to Casevitz-Weulersse (1990), but at the same time noted that Atanassov and Dlusskij (1992) considered Temnothorax melanocephalus as a good species. Since 1992 its status has not been formally changed by any subsequent authors and we consider it as a good species.
