Distribution: Peleng and Sula Isls ( Indonesia).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Unknown.

Discussion: For status see Groves (1987). Flannery et al. (1987) doubted that pelengensis really belongs to Phalanger , and Flannery (1994 a) placed it in Strigocuscus .
