Tectum View in CoL group
Diagnosis. Body moderately small, slightly elongate or wide; apical segment of maxillary palp at least about twice as long as preceding segment; anterior portion of the distinctly transverse head between antennal insertion and anterior margin of eye with deep, semicircular notch; pronotum with or without mediobasal impressions, with anterior angles not or protruding anteriad and lateral edges without crenulation; median surface of each elytron without elevations; meso- and metatibiae covered by dense and stout spines.
Species included. Anthobium cornatipenis sp. n., A. frigidum (J. Sahlberg, 1880) , A. himalayense sp. n., A. multipunctatum sp. n., A. smetanai sp. n., A. tectum ( Paykull, 1789) , A. tichomirovae sp. n., A. umbrinum sp. n., A. vitreum sp. n.
Remarks. Regarding the general shape of the body and the presence of deep semicircular notch in lateroapical portion of head between the anteocellar insertion and the apical margin of the eye, species of this group are similar to species of the atrocephalum (Shavrin 2020) and consanguineum ( Shavrin & Smetana 2019) groups. From species of the atrocephalum group they differ by a somewhat less convex body. From species of the consanguineum group they differ by a broader forebody, more indistinct median impressions of the pronotum, the absence of crenulation on the lateral edges of the pronotum, and a narrower apical portion of the median lobe. Regarding the presence of a semicircular notch between the antennal insertion and the anterior margin of eye and similar setation of the meso- and metatibia, species of the tectum group are similar to those of the algidum group, from which they differ by a smaller and broader body, more transverse head and pronotum, as well as the morphology of the aedeagus (see above).
