Type locality.

New Jersey, USA; stratum: uncertain [likely Navesink Formation]; age: Cretaceous.

Type material.

Holotype not found; could be in Charles Lyell’s fossil collections (John Sime, pers. comm.), presently in the Natural History Museum (London, UK) and Oxford University Museum of Natural History (Oxford, UK).

Current taxonomic status.

Ellipsoscapha mortoni (Forbes, 1845) ( Richards and Ramsdell 1962, Sohl 1964).
