Type Locality: Sri Lanka ( Ceylon), Ohiya, W Haputale, 6000 ft (1830 m).
Vernacular Names: Phillips's Srilankamys.
Distribution: Primary lowland tropical and montane evergreen rainforest formations on mountains in Uva and Central Provinces of Sri Lanka between 915 and 2135 m ( Phillips, 1980).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
Discussion: Musser (1981 b) described the history of past and incorrect allocations of ohiensis to groups that are now recognized as Apomys , Lenothrix , Leopoldamys , Maxomys , Niviventer , and Rattus .
