Type-locality. Lago Poraquequare, Manaus, Brazil.

Distribution and habitat. Chatogekko amazonicus is endemic to Amazonia, widespread across the region with the exception of the westernmost portion, occurring in Brazil, French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana, and Bolivia ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Donoso-Barros (1968) reported it from Venezuela. In Brazil it is known from the states of Amapá, Pará, Amazonas, Roraima, Acre, Rondônia, and Mato Grosso. Chatogekko amazonicus is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits a variety of forested habitats, as long as they have leaf litter on the ground, where it is usually found ( Hoogmoed 1973; Martins 1991; Ávila-Pires 1995; Vitt & Zani 1998; Vitt et al. 1999; 2005; 2008; Ribeiro-Júnior et al. 2008).
