Gonatodes eladioi Nascimento, Ávila-Pires & Cunha, 1987

Type-locality. Estrada N1–Caldeirão, near Igarapé Azul, Serra Norte, Carajás, Pará, Brazil (approximately 6º00’S, 50º22’W).

Pertinent taxonomic references. Nascimento et al. (1987), Ávila-Pires (1995), Gamble et al. (2008b, 2011b), Rojas-Runjaic & Rivero (2009), Rivero-Blanco & Schargel (2012).

Distribution and habitat. Gonatodes eladioi is endemic to southern Amazonia, with its distribution restricted to the interfluvium Tapajós–Tocantins ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 ). It is endemic to Brazil, occurring in the states of Pará and Mato Grosso. Gonatodes eladioi is arboreal/scansorial and diurnal, inhabits terra firme forest, where it is more commonly found in disturbed or edge situations (e.g. margins of small roads inside forest), on the base of tree trunks and on the walls of human habitations inside forest (nine individuals of the type series―including the holotype ―were collected up to 2 meters high in an abandoned hut, made of wood and palm leaves) ( Nascimento et al. 1987; Ávila-Pires 1995; Hernández-Ruz et al. 2008). Ávila-Pires (1995) suggested that it occurs in relatively low density in undisturbed forest.
