Lepidoblepharis hoogmoedi Ávila-Pires, 1995
Type-locality. West of Benjamin Constant, Amazonas, Brazil, alt. 50 m.
Pertinent taxonomic reference. Ávila-Pires (1995).
Distribution and habitat. Until now Lepidoblepharis hoogmoedi was only known from two localities, Benjamin Constant, state of Amazonas, Brazil (Type-locality), and northern Departamento Loreto, in Peru ( Duellman & Mendelson 1995). Here I present several other localities with confirmed occurrence for this taxon ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ). It is endemic to western Amazonia, distributed from the west side of Negro River, through lower Japurá and Juruá Rivers and middle Jutaí River, to north side of Javari and Amazon Rivers, occurring in Brazil and Peru ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ). In Brazil it is only known from the state of Amazonas. Lepidoblepharis hoogmoedi is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits primary terra firme forest, near water (creeks, lakes, temporary ponds and rivers), where it is found among the leaf litter, under fallen tree trunks and in palm litter ( Duellman & Mendelson 1995; Ávila-Pires 1995; museum data).
