Body moderately to quite slender, metasoma strongly compressed. Occipital carina complete or sometimes medially obsolescent. Mandibular teeth equal or nearly equal. Propodeal carination complete or almost complete. Front wing with pterostigma wide, areolet absent, vein Rs&M opposite or a little basal to vein cu-a, vein rs-m basal to 2m-cu by about 0.4 of its length. Hind wing with vein Cu1 weak. Tergite I moderately long to long with a long shallow glymma. Lower edges of tergite I separated and parallel. Epipleura narrow, separated by a crease and turned under. Ovipositor tip straight, weakly decurved or sinuate. Male paramere simple, its apex rounded. Trathala is a very large genus of worldwide distribution. The hosts are Lepidoptera , usually Pyraloidea.
