Type species. Musca luteola Gmelin, 1790: 2879 .
Diagnosis. The Genus Myolepta can be separated from other genera by the following combination of characters: eyes bare; oral margin notched anteromedially; male with distinct median facial tubercle; postpronotum pilose; crossvein r-m before middle of cell dm; vein R4+5 straight, apical section of vein R4+5 absent or much less than half as long as crossvein h; cell r4+5 closed at wing margin; at least hind femur with ventroapical spines.
