Diagnosis: acrostichal 0:1; dorsocentral 2:4; male: intra-alars 2; mid femur with three preapical setae; wing hyaline.
Color: general body coloration brownish yellow; frons yellow, apex brown; facialia, parafacialia and gena yellow; antenna and palpus brown; scutum light brown with four light stripes of grey pruinosity; apexes of median and hind femora brown; calypters and halter yellow; wing hyaline ( Fig. 133 View FIGURES 133 – 136 ).
Male. Length. Body: 5.5–6.0 mm; wing: 6.3–6.8 mm.
Head: eyes separated from each other by 0.1–0.13 mm, at level of ocellar tubercle; 14–15 pairs of frontal setae; ocellar seta large and convergent; postocellar seta large and divergent; inner vertical seta small and convergent; outer vertical seta small and divergent.
Thorax: acrostichal 0:1; dorsocentral 2:3; intra-alars 2; apex of fore tibia with setae on anterodorsal, dorsal, posterodorsal and posteroventral surfaces; mid femur with row of setae on posteroventral surface from base to middle, reappearing near apex; mid femur with three preapical setae, on dorsal, posterodorsal and posterior surfaces; apex of mid tibia with setae on anterior, posterodorsal, posteroventral, ventral and anteroventral surfaces; hind femur with complete row of dorsal, posteroventral and anteroventral setae; hind tibia with one median anterodorsal setaand one to three median anteroventral setae; hind tibia with anterior, anterodorsal, dorsal, ventral and anteroventral setae at apex; wing with one dorsal and one or two ventral setae at apex of stem vein.
Abdomen: epandrium, in profile not projected basally.
Female (differing as follows): Length. Body: 5.6–6.0 mm; wing: 6.0– 6.3 mm; eyes separated from each other by 0.3–0.33 mm, at level of ocellar tubercle; 11–12 pairs of frontal convergent setae, except for upper two pairs, divergent; ocellar and postocellar setae large and divergent; inner vertical seta large and convergent, and outer vertical seta large and divergent; sternite VIII with strong spike-like setae; epiproct with four setae, setae in a square-shaped arrangement (2:2).
Comments: Snyder (1949) mentioned that N. schadei looks like N. dorsipuncta (Stein) . As mentioned by the author, until the examination of both holotypes, N. schadei must be classified as a distinct species, given its geographical distribution ( N. schadei from southeastern South America and N. dorsipuncta from Mexico).
