Topana (Topana) cincticornis (Stål, 1873) View in CoL

Fig. 20C, D View FIGURE 20

Distribution: Brazil: Paraná.

Comments: This is the first record of females of this species. The tegmina of females are oval, larger than the tegmina of males, and entire green, without stains. The ovipositor is curved upwards, a little longer than the pronotum and as high as the abdomen, with ventral valves curved along all its extension, with apex without reaching the apex of the dorsal valves, a condition also found in another species of Pycnopalpini .

Bioacoustics ( Fig. 21 D–F View FIGURE 21 ): Males stridulate only at night, producing a sequence of echemes during about one second, in crescendo. Each sequence is composed by four to seven echemes, each of them composed by two syllables of similar intensity.

Dominant frequency: 31.4 ± 1.5 kHz.

Bandwidth: 5.0 ± 3.0 kHz.

Duration: Syllable: 7.0 ± 3.0 ms; Echeme: 560 ± 98 ms.

Mute interval: Syllable: 64 ± 10 ms.
