Type Locality: " China ". Restricted by G. Allen (1938:559) to "more or less in the region of Canton." [Guangzhou, Guandong Province, China].

Distribution: SE China from Yangtse River southward; Taiwan; disjunct in NE Vietnam.

Discussion: Subgenus Sinolagus ( Averianov, 1998) . Placed in Caprolagus (Indolagus) by Gureev (1964:143). Formerly included coreanus ; see Corbet (1978 c: 73); here considered distinct, following Flux and Angermann (1990).
