4.2. The cheliped of Apseudes sp. is only slightly masculinized
As with our preliminary observations, increases in the widths of the chelipedal carpus and chela relative to body size did not change (was monophasic) in Apseudes sp. The carpus and chela did not markedly widen or elongate in individuals of any size. We found, however, that large individuals of this species bore a dorsal process on the fixed finger—that is, they showed weak chelipedal masculinization. All ovigerous individuals except for one possessed this process.
