5. Lejeunea sordida (Nees) Nees (1838: 278) View in CoL . Jungermannia sordida Nees (1830: 41) . Hygrolejeunea sordida (Nees)

Schiffner (1893: 125). Taxilejeunea sordida (Nees) Eifrig (1937: 101) . Type: INDONESIA. Java: “in tumulis Baduorum sanctis”, Blume s.n. (holotype STR!; isotype E!).

= Hygrolejeunea laxiretis Stephani (1896: 102) . Taxilejeunea laxiretis (Steph.) Eifrig (1937: 102) . Type: PHILIPPINES. Luzon Island: Benguet, Micholitz 23, 1884/85 (lectotype, designated by M. Mizutani (in sched.), G 16237!), syn. nov.

For further synonyms see Eifrig (1937), Mizutani (1970) and Grolle (1981).

Note: The type material of H. laxiretis in G consists of several packets ; the unpublished lectotypification by M. Mizutani (in sched.) is accepted here. The type material fits the common and widespread Asian L. sordida ( Lee 2013) in all respects .

6. Lejeunea stevensiana (Steph.) Mizutani (1971: 452) . Taxilejeunea stevensiana Stephani (1896: 136) . Type: INDIA. Sikkim: Darjeeling, 1893, Stevens no. 511 ex Herbarium J. Cardot (lectotype G 16258! [c.per.], here designated)

= Taxilejeunea cuspidata Schiffner (1899: 206) View in CoL , nom. inval., nom. nud. Material: BHUTAN. zwischen Maria Basti & Labar, 5000–6000 ft., 12 Apr. 1898, Rev. L. Durel no. 187 ex Herbarium E. Levier (G! [c.per.]), syn. nov.

Illustration: Mizutani 1971: 453 (Fig. IV: 1–26)

Further specimen examined: — BHUTAN. Mongar: Forest slopes above Mongar, D.G. Long 8489 (E).

Note: Taxilejeunea cuspidata fits very well L. stevensiana , a species reported from China, Yunnan ( Zhu & So 1999), Bhutan ( Long & Grolle 1990), India and Nepal ( Mizutani 1971, 1972), by, e.g., the flexuous plants, the acuminate leaf lobe, the leaf cells with well-developed trigones and intermediate thickenings, and the presence of male bracteoles throughout the androecial shoot.

7. Lejeunea umbilicata (Nees) Nees in Gottsche et al. (1843: 472). Jungermannia umbilicata Nees (1830: 42) . Type: INDONESIA. Java, Blume s.n. (holotype STR!).

= Taxilejeunea umbilicata (Nees) Jack & Stephani (1894: 104) f. brevirostris Eifrig (1937: 80) . Type: INDONESIA. Sumatra: Sarasah Boenta, 500 m, E. Jacobson VIII 29. Herb. Verdoorn n. 11645 (holotype JE!), syn. nov.

Note: This forma was described by Eifrig (1937) based on the short, beak-like projection of the perianth (“die an Stelle des eingesenkten Rostrums ein kurz hervorstehendes aufweist”). However, the length of the beak (1–2 cells long) appeared to be very variable within the material.
