Discussion: Dollman’s (1910) generic description is excellent and highlights its many unique traits among dendromurines. The interorbital and postorbital conformation, shape and size of incisive foramina, and molar patterns are similar to Dendroprionomys . A cladistic analysis based primarily on dental traits excludes Prionomys and Dendroprionomys from dendromurines ( Denys et al., 1995), but this hypothesis should be tested with other data.
