Aspidium amabile Blume (1828: 165) View in CoL ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 )

Type:— INDONESIA. Java (Bantam): Blume s.n. (holotype L0050974!; isotypes: K000722127!, K001040015!) .

Voucher specimens examined:— VIETNAM. Lamdong Province: Bidoup-Nui Ba National Park, stream behind Giang Ly station, elev. 1400–1500 m, 21 October 2015, Li Bing Zhang et al. 8635 (CDBI!, MO!, PHH).

Distribution and habitat:— China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, India, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam; dry mountain with mixed pine and broad-leaved forest. Arachniodes amabilis is rare in Vietnam, only found in Lamdong Province of the Central Highlands.

Notes:—Two species, Arachniodes amabilis and A. rhomboidea (Schott) Ching (1964: 383) , were taxonomically confusing for a long time. Both of them were recognized by Tindale (1961), Ching (1964), and Fraser-Jenkins (2018). Nakaike (1975) and He et al. (2013) placed A. rhomboidea as a synonym of A. amabilis . Since our recent molecular study ( Lu et al. 2019), we have examined two more voucher specimens of A. rhomboidea from Nepal, and we agree to recognize A. rhomboidea .

Additional specimens examined:— CHINA. Guizhou: Libo County, Shuili Xiang, 6 August 2016, Li Bing Zhang et al. 9196 (CDBI!); Ziyun County, Bandang Town, 26°54′21.74″N, 106°11′22.48″E, 1200 m, 30 October 2011, Li Bing Zhang, Hai He & Yu Wang 5906 (CDBI!).— JAPAN.
