Lectotype (designated here):— Hort. Bot. Berol., from Cuba, s.d., s.c. (lectotype: B100516451 !; isolectotype: U0004711 !).

Nomenclatural notes:— In the protologue it is not mentioned in which herbarium the type was deposited, but only that the type comes from Cuba (seeds), sent by Otto, to Horto Berolinensis. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) were the first to cite the type (in the work as “ holotype ”) the material deposited in the B herbarium, however, this cannot be considered a lectotypification because it was published after 2001 and the “designated here” or a similar phrase was not used ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 7.11). Although the authors of the species are German and the plant was cultivated in Horto Berolinensis, we cannot say with certainty that the material deposited in B is the holotype because it is not described in the protologue. Here, it is valuable to remember again the Art. 9 A.1. We designate B100516451 as the lectotype because this specimen contains branch and preserved leaves .

Taxonomical note:— Ficus venusta was synonymize by Berg & Villavicencio (2004) as F. aurea .
