Promalactis nabokovi Lvovsky, 2000

( Figs 31 View FIGURES 25–34 , 62 View FIGURES 59–62 )

Promalactis nabokovi Lvovsky, 2000b: 667 . Type locality: Indonesia ( North-eastern Sumatra).

Material examined: MALAYSIA: 1 ♂, Kalanggaan , Mt. Kinabalu, Borneo, 1400 m, 9−13.viii.2005, leg. W. Mey & K. Ebert, genitalia slide No. MNHU-NK017 ( MNHU) .

Redescription. Imago ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 25–34 ) with wingspan 11.0 mm. Head with vertex shining white, frons gray, occiput dark brown mixed with dark gray. Labial palpus with basal segment pale white, second segment with basal half pale white, distal half ochreous yellow on inner surface, ochreous brown on outer surface; third segment black except white at base, almost same length as second. Antenna with scape white; flagellum with basal several flagellomeres white, remaining ones white and black on dorsal surface, dark brown on ventral surface. Thorax and tegula dark brown basally, grayish black distally, tegula white near costal margin. Forewing dark ochreous yellow except apex gray mixed with black; markings edged with black scales: a white streak from above base of fold to basal 1/4 of dorsum; a white fascia from costal 1/4 to 2/3 of dorsum; costal margin with a triangular white spot at 2/ 3, extending down across midwing, posterior 2/3 tinged with gray scales; tornus with a triangular gray spot, reaching lower angle of cell, with denser black scales on inside; cilia ochreous yellow, dark gray along distal part of costal and dorsal margins, tinged with white at tornus. Hindwing and cilia gray. Foreleg black, tibia with a white spot at middle on dorsal surface, tarsus with white spots on dorsal surface; midleg with tibia and tarsus yellow on ventral surface, black on dorsal surface, tibia with a tuft of long white scales at apex, tarsus with white spots on dorsal surface; hindleg yellow on ventral surface, gray on dorsal surface, tarsus with white spots on dorsal surface.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 59–62 ). Uncus heavily sclerotized, gradually narrowed to pointed apex, distal 1/3 curved ventrad, bifurcate and forming two closed processes; with a heavily sclerotized, triangular dorsal process at distal 1/3. Gnathos heavily sclerotized, tongue shaped, about 1/2 length of uncus, scobinate, narrowly rounded at apex; lateral arms elongate, slightly longer than gnathos, basal half fan shaped, distal half band shaped. Tegumen branched from posterior 2/5, blunt anteriorly. Valva narrow, costa broadly sclerotized; apex bilobed: dorsal lobe broad, with a tuft of compact bristles and a stout cone-like spine at apex, left dorsal lobe shorter than right one; ventral lobe elongate, setose, club shaped, left ventral lobe far exceeding end of dorsal one, almost straight, right ventral lobe slightly exceeding end of dorsal one, slightly sinuate. Sacculus very broad and rounded at base, narrow distally. Saccus broad, parallel laterally, slightly longer than uncus, rounded at apex. Juxta slender and short. Aedeagus equal to total length from apex of uncus to apex of saccus, slightly curved basally, heavily sclerotized distally, apex with a triangular process; cornutus absent.

Diagnosis. This species is very similar to P. tamdaoella Lvovsky, 1988 , but can be separated by the forewing with a white fascia from costal 1/4 to 2/3 of dorsum; the uncus with a triangular dorsal process at distal 1/3 and the asymmetrical dorso-apical and ventro-apical lobes of valva in the male genitalia. In P.tamdaoella , the forewing has a white streak from below costal 1/4 to beyond middle of dorsum; the uncus has no dorsal process distally and the dorso-apical and ventro-apical lobes of the valva is symmetrical.

Distribution. Indonesia (Sumatra), Malaysia (Borneo).

Notes. This species is newly recorded in Malaysia, and the female of this species is still unknown.
