Promalactis pectinifera Wang, Du & Li , sp. nov.

( Figs 19 View FIGURES 17–24 , 51 View FIGURES 47–52 )

Type material: Holotype ♂, BRUNEI, Ulu Temburong (4°27'N, 115°12'E), 365 m, LP 283, GR 843887, 30.iv.1989, leg. M. G. Allen & K. R. Tuck, BM 1989−129, genitalia slide No. BMNH-33534 ( BMNH). GoogleMaps

Description. Imago ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 17–24 ) with wingspan 9.0 mm. Head with vertex shining milk white, frons brown, occiput dark ochreous brown. Labial palpus with basal and second segments grayish brown on inner surface, dark brown on outer surface; third segment with basal 1/3 white, distal 2/3 black, about same length as second. Antenna with scape white; flagellum with basal 3/4 white, distal 1/4 black on dorsal surface, dark brown on ventral surface. Thorax and tegula dark ochreous brown. Forewing dark yellowish brown; an irregular dark gray fascia from costal 2/3 to tornus, its outer margin with a white triangular spot on costal margin, inner margin with dense black scales; two white streaks from dorsal margin, edged with black scales: first streak from basal 1/6 to base of fold, with some dark ochreous brown scales on its inner margin, second streak from 2/3 straightly to lower margin of cell; apex and termen dark gray tinged with black scales; cilia yellow, dark gray along distal part of costal margin, dark gray mixed with black along distal part of dorsal margin. Hindwing and cilia gray. Foreleg black; midleg gray on ventral surface, black on dorsal surface; hindleg yellow, tarsus black at apex.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 51 View FIGURES 47–52 ). Uncus very broad at base, gradually narrowed to apex, narrowly overlapped laterally, apex with a papillary process. Gnathos about same length as uncus, tongue shaped, rounded at apex, distal 1/4 scobinate; lateral arms very short, triangular. Tegumen branched from posterior 1/5, rounded anteriorly. Valva narrow basally and distally, broadened before middle, obliquely truncate at apex; costa nearly straight, with a long rod-like process arising from near base reaching beyond apex of valva, bearing small teeth at apex; ventral margin sinuate, projected near middle, obviously concave distally. Sacculus broad at base, with sparse short spines and a row of dense pectination from basal 1/3 to near apex, distal 1/5 free, apex rounded, exceeding end of costal process. Saccus short, nearly semi-ovate, narrowly pointed at apex. Juxta weakly sclerotized, elongately leaf-like, narrowly overlapped laterally, with a small triangular basal process, with a longitudinal median ridge; apex narrowly rounded, reaching posterior 1/5 of tegumen. Aedeagus straight, thin, broad at base, gradually narrowed to narrowly rounded apex, almost equal to total length from apex of uncus to apex of saccus; cornutus absent.

Female unknown.

Diagnosis. This new species is similar to P. sumatrana Lvovsky, 2000 , but can be separated by the forewing with a white dorsal streak; the rod-like costal process not bifurcate distally, the sacculus with sparse short spines and a row of dense pectination from basal 1/3 to near apex, and the saccus about 1/2 length of the uncus in the male genitalia. In P. sumatrana , the dorsal streak of the forewing is gray and white; the costal process is forcipiform and bifurcate distally, the sacculus has no spines and pectination, and the saccus is twice length of the uncus in the male genitalia.

Distribution. Brunei (Ulu Temburong).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin pectinifera (= having pectination), referring to the sacculus having a row of dense pectination from basal 1/3 to near apex.
