Promalactis bruneiensis Wang, Du & Li , sp. nov.

( Figs 3 View FIGURES 1–8 , 37 View FIGURES 35–40 )

Type material: Holotype ♂, BRUNEI, Bukit Retak (4°21'N, 115°18'E), Moss forest, 1365 m, LP 238, GR 873804, 1−4.v.1989, leg. M. G. Allen & K. R. Tuck, BM 1989−129, genitalia slide No. BMNH-33566 ( BMNH) GoogleMaps . Paratypes: 2 ♂, same data as holotype ( BMNH) GoogleMaps .

Description. Imago ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–8 ) with wingspan 9.0−9.5 mm. Head with vertex shining white, frons and occiput dark brown. Labial palpus with basal and second segments yellow mixed with white on inner surface, dark ochreous brown on outer surface, second segment white at apex; third segment with basal 2/5 white, distal 3/5 dark ochreous brown, about same length as second. Antenna with scape white; flagellum with basal several flagellomeres white, remaining ones white and black on dorsal surface, dark brown on ventral surface. Thorax and tegula dark brown. Forewing with a white fascia from basal 1/4 of costal margin extending obliquely to middle of dorsum, margined with black scales, area dark ochreous brown from its inside to base, area ochreous yellow from its outside to apex; an irregular dark-gray fascia from costal 2/3 to tornus, margined with black scales, anterior 2/5 and posterior 1/3 broad, subtriangular, anterior 2/5−2/3 very narrow; apex with a dark-gray trapeziform spot, margined with black scales, with a dark-gray line along termen; cilia yellow, dark gray mixed with black at base along distal part of costal and dorsal margins. Hindwing and cilia gray. Foreleg black, tibia with a white spot at middle on dorsal surface, with a tuft of short white scales at apex, tarsus with white spots on dorsal surface; midleg with tibia and tarsus black on dorsal surface, pale gray on ventral surface, tibia with a tuft of long white scales at apex, tarsus with white spots on dorsal surface; hindleg yellow on ventral surface, tibia gray on dorsal surface, tarsus yellowish white on dorsal surface, gray on outer surface.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 35–40 ). Uncus nearly rectangular, slightly broad at base, bluntly rounded at apex. Gnathos heavily sclerotized, narrow, bent backward, almost parallel laterally, distal 2/5 bifurcate, forming two finger-like processes. Tegumen with posterior 1/2 concave laterally, branched from near middle, narrowly rounded anteriorly. Valva narrow at base, broad distally, distal 1/3 setose; costa narrowly sclerotized, straight and uplifted, forming a narrowly triangular process distally, with a tuft of fine spines apically; ventral margin straight, distally setose, produced to a broadly triangular uplifted ventro-apical process; an upright, digitate process between costal and ventro-apical processes; a sclerotized fold extending from base of costa to apex of broad triangular process, weak medially, with small teeth distally. Sacculus broad at base, narrowed to apex. Saccus slightly longer than uncus, subtriangular, broad at base, narrowed to rounded apex. Juxta weakly sclerotized, quadrangular, with a slender basal handle reaching 1/3 length of saccus, apex reaching near middle length of tegumen. Aedeagus straight, narrow at base, broad distally, apex with a nearly rectangular process, serrate apically; one spine-like cornutus situated distally, about 1/3 length of aedeagus.

Female unknown.

Diagnosis. This new species is similar to P. uncignatha Du, Li & Wang, 2011 . It can be separated by the forewing dark ochreous brown area between inside of white fascia and base; distal 2/5 of the gnathos bifurcate, the costa with a narrowly triangular distal process, the ventro-apical process of the valva uplifted and the aedeagus with one cornutus in the male genitalia. In P. uncignatha , the forewing is ochreous yellow between inside of white fascia and base; the gnathos is hooked and not bifurcate distally, the costa has no process, the apical process of the valva is directed foreward and the aedeagus has no cornutus in the male genitalia.

Distribution. Brunei (Bukit Retak).
