Cycreon armandi View in CoL sp. nov. ( Figs. 3–4 View FIGURES 1 – 4 , 13–24 View FIGURES 13 – 21 View FIGURES 22 – 25 , 27 View FIGURES 26 – 27 )
Type material. Holotype: SINGAPORE ( MHNB). 1 ♂. Labels—in Fig. 27 View FIGURES 26 – 27 .
Diagnosis. Larger in size than C. sculpturatus ; dorsal surface of head and pronotum with dotty microsculpture consisting of deep, small and not so closely disposed punctures as at C. sculpturatus ; clypeus prolongate, scutellum elongate, meso- and metatibiae curved (the latter character probably only present in males).
Description. Body length 3.3 mm, width 2.0 mm. Dorsal and ventral surfaces brightly shining (except of pubescent ventral side), with reduced microsculpture ( Figs. 3–4 View FIGURES 1 – 4 ). Punctures of head and pronotum deep, small (about 0,0 15 mm), separate by ca. one diameter ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 13 – 21 ). Clypeus oblong: ca. 3× as wide as long, lateral edges straight ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 13 – 21 ); middle part of its apex elevated ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 13 – 21 ). Base of pronotum slightly protruded medially ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 13 – 21 ), with reduced basal fovea. Scutellar shield about twice as long as wide on the base. Meso- and metatibiae curved ( Figs. 18–21 View FIGURES 13 – 21 ). Aedeagophore: Figs. 22–24 View FIGURES 22 – 25 . Parameres ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 22 – 25 ): length 0.88 mm, width 0.23 mm; basal piece is 0.47 of total length; parameres narrowed to the apex, their outer edge on most of extension straight, deflects outwards before the apex, inner edge straight from the base and after middle, rounded at the middle of extension and before the apical part, having two setae before the apex (both tops of parameres in this specimen probably may be broken off). Aedeagus ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 22 – 25 ): length 0.82 mm, width 0.1 mm; expanded after ¼ of the length from the base and before the apex; lateral edges sinuated, form of top close to rectangle. Sternite 9 ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 22 – 25 ) having tongue-like form, length of base 0.33 mm, width 0.11 mm; length of side straps 0.46 mm (left) and 0.50 mm (right).
Etymology. The species is named after Armand d’Orchymont, following his preliminary (and correct) presumption that this specimen represented a distinct, undescribed species.
