Diestecostoma mexicanum (Baird)
Amphibia (A): NA.
DISTRITO FEDERAL: Desierto de los Leones: Bolitoglossa sp. , Ambystoma altamirani ( Caballero, 1940c) . ESTADO DE MÉXICO: Tenancingo: Undetermined amphibian ( Caballero, 1941d; Ringuelet, 1944).
PUEBLA: Volcán de Orizaba : Ambystoma altamirani ( Caballero, 1940c) .
Specimens deposited: CNHE (1718–1719, 1721).
Notes: The specimens described by Caballero (1940c) as Hygrobdella pelaezi were synonymized with Diestecostoma mexicanum by Moore (1946). Caballero (1940c) found the leeches co-existing with salamanders and based on this finding, established salamanders as definitive hosts for this parasite.
