ESTADO DE MÉXICO: La Marquesa: Ambystoma altamirani ( Dyer & Brandon, 1973) ; Nevado de Toluca: Ambystoma rivularis ( Dyer & Brandon, 1973) ; Río Frío: Ambystoma leorae ( Dyer & Brandon, 1973) ; San Pedro Tlaltizapán: Ambystoma lermaensis ( Mata-López et al., 2002) . MICHOACÁN: Lago de Pátzcuaro: Ambystoma dumerili ( García-Altamirano et al., 1993) , Lithobates dunni ( Pulido-Flores, 1994) ; Lago de Zacapu: Ambystoma andersoni (CNHE) . PUEBLA: Apizaco: Ambystoma tigrinum ( Dyer & Brandon, 1973) .
Specimens deposited: CNHE (2126, 2301, 2306, 3798, 4602) (H, P), USNPC (72195-98).
Notes: Specimens from Bravo-Hollis and Caballero (1940) were identified as Spironoura cryptobranchi ; later, Chabaud and Golvan (1957) established these as type material of Falcaustra mexicana . Records of Falcaustra mascula from Estado de México and Puebla ( Dyer & Brandon, 1973), were invalidated by Baker (1986b), including this material in Chabaud and Golvan’s species. Finally, Pérez-Ponce de Léon et al., (2001) re-examined specimens from Michoacán identified as Falcaustra chabaudi ( García-Altamirano et al., 1993; Pulido-Flores, 1994) and re-assigned them to F. mexicana .
