DISTRITO FEDERAL: Lago de Xochimilco: Lithobates montezumae ( Macías-Palacios, 1963) . ESTADO DE MÉXICO: Lago de Texcoco: Lithobates montezumae (CNHE) ; Laguna de Zumpango: Ambystoma tigrinum ( García-Prieto, 1986) . MICHOACÁN: Lago de Pátzcuaro: Lithobates dunni ( Pulido-Flores, 1994) .

Specimens deposited: CNHE (396, 426, 429-30, 4636).

Notes: The genus Ophiotaenia has been considered a synonym of Proteocephalus ( Brooks, 1978) . However, in a phylogenetic analysis of the order Proteocephalidea, De Chambrier et al. (2004) evaluated the structure of the clade Proteocephalus and showed that Proteocephalus species are fundamentally parasites of Palaearctic fishes. Material from Laguna de Zumpango was included in Batrachotaenia ( García-Prieto, 1986) , junior synonym of Ophiotaenia ( Brooks, 1978) .
