New records.

Israel • 1 spcm; Palmachim; 31.9292°N, 34.6405°E; depth 36.9 m; 29 May 2004; soft substrate; grab; NM project (station 19); size: L 3.2 mm, H 3.2 mm.

Remarks.

We report a juvenile but living individual of Chavania erythraea , a lucinid occurring in the Red Sea, the Persian (Arabian) Gulf and the Arabian Sea ( Glover and Taylor 2001). This is the first record of this species from the Mediterranean Sea. Adults develop a commarginal lamellar sculpture.
