Centris eisenii Fox, 1893 View in CoL . 22, 23.
Type data: Fox (1893) based the description of this species on an undetermined number of females collected in Guaymas, Sinaloa state, Mexico. Moure et al. (2007) mentioned a type series composed by at least four specimens housed at CAS. Two females were found at ANSP that agree with the information provided in the original description being both certainly primary types. One of these specimens has a red label with the words “Type 101191 ” and the other one has a light green label with the words “Para-type 101191 ”. Fox (1893) did not indicate explicitly which female was designated as the holotype; therefore, a lectotype needs to be designated. The specimen labeled with the word “type” is in better condition, and it is here designated lectotype. The chosen specimen has the following data label ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 5 and 6 ): [light brown label] Guaymas Mex [handwritten]\ [light brown label] Centris eisenii Fox [handwritten]\ [white label] 1980 Loan to USNM from Acad. of Nat. Sciences at Philadelphia [printed]\ [dark red label] Type No. [printed] 10191 [handwritten]\ [light blue label] Lectotype Centris eisenii Fox, 1893 F. Vivallo des, 2017 [handwritten]. Paralectotype female with the following data label: [light brown label] Guaymas Mex [handwritten]\ [light pink label] Centris eisenii Fox [handwritten]\ [light green label] Para-Type [printed] 10191 [handwritten]\ [light blue label] Paralectotype Centris eisenii Fox, 1893 F. Vivallo des, 2017 [handwritten]. Both type specimens are in good condition. The presence of syntypes (now paralectotypes) at CAS could not be confirmed.
Type locality: Mexico: Sonora state: Guaymas .
Comment: This species was correctly interpreted by Snelling (1966, 1974, 1984) and Moure et al. (2007).
