Key to the Iranian species of Choeras Mason, 1981

1 Subapical antennal flagellomeres longer than wide, with especially 16th flagellomere aberrant, smooth and shiny surface ( Fig. 7B View FIGURE 7 ); T1 hardly narrowed posteriorly and completely strongly rugose ( Figs 8C–8D View FIGURE 8 ); T2 transversely narrowed, rectangular, with a shortly and weakly sloping sides, its width posteriorly 3.5 × its length ( Figs 8C–8D View FIGURE 8 )........ C. tiro ( Reinhard, 1880)

- Subapical antennal flagellomeres moniliform and about as long as wide, if longer than wide then normal and densely setose ( Figs 2B View FIGURE 2 , 4B View FIGURE 4 , 6A View FIGURE 6 ); T1 more and less narrowed posteriorly and with some sculpture ( Figs 3A–3B View FIGURE 3 , 5A–5B View FIGURE 5 , 6F View FIGURE 6 ); T2 transversely narrowed, subtriangular, with longer and strongly sloping sides, posteriorly more than 3.5 × wider than its length ( Figs 3A–3B View FIGURE 3 , 5A–5B View FIGURE 5 , 6F View FIGURE 6 ).......................................................................................... 2

2 Tarsal claws slender and only bristly setose; vein r-m variable, if present then vein r-m less than 1.5 × as long as vein 3RSa ( Fig. 3F View FIGURE 3 ); T1 narrowed and anterior half rather depressed, concave, smooth and shiny, anteriorly more than 1.5 × wider than posteriorly ( Figs 3C–3D View FIGURE 3 ); T2 posteriorly 3.5–4.0 × wider than long ( Figs 3C–3D View FIGURE 3 ), T3 variable, sometimes with sandglassshaped ( Figs 3C–3D View FIGURE 3 ).................................................................................. 3

- Tarsal claws less slender and with two teeth; vein r-m about twice as long as vein 3RSa ( Fig. 5F View FIGURE 5 ); T1 slightly narrowed and anterior half convex, coarsely punctate and shiny, anteriorly about as long as wide posteriorly ( Figs 5C–5D View FIGURE 5 ); T2 posteriorly more than 5.2 × wider than long ( Figs 5C–5D View FIGURE 5 ), T3 only with a shape of inverse triangle anteriorly ( Figs 5C–5D View FIGURE 5 )............................................................................................... C. taftanensis sp. n.

3 Vein r-m present and 1.4 × as long as 3RSa ( Fig. 3F View FIGURE 3 ); T1 anteriorly 1.6 × wider than posteriorly ( Figs 3C–3D View FIGURE 3 ); T2 with strong rugae laterally, smooth and shiny medially, posteriorly more than 3.9 × wider than long ( Figs 3C–3D View FIGURE 3 ); T3 with sandglassshaped ( Figs 3C–3D View FIGURE 3 ); propodeum with an irregular medio-longitudinal carina, and with some rugae instead of transverse carina ( Fig. 3B View FIGURE 3 ).................................................................. C. dorsalis ( Spinola, 1808)

- Vein r-m absent; T1 anteriorly 1.9 × wider than posteriorly; T2 transverse with smooth median surface, posteriorly more than 3.2 × wider than long; T3 without sandglass-shaped; propodeum largely smooth and shiny except for a few rugae posteriorly, and no medio-longitudinal carina..................................................... C. tedellae ( Nixon, 1961)
