C o m m e n t: Medon semiobscurus is distributed and common in Anatolia and the Middle East, eastwards to Iran. Its distribution borders parapatrically on that of the closely related M. brunneus . In Greece, M. semiobscurus has been recorded only from the islands Samos, Rhodos, and Lesbos, from where M. brunneus is unknown, and in

Turkey, M. brunneus is confined to the very northwest, where M. semiobscurus is absent ( ASSING 2004a, 2005a, 2005b, 2006).

Several specimens collected in Turkey in April are teneral.
