C o m m e n t: This species is distributed in northern Iran and Azerbaijan, near the coast of the Caspian Sea (Map 5). Unlike M. fusculoides , which too is widespread and common in Iran and which was predominantly found near streams and rivers, M. sparsiventris appears to inhabit the leaf litter layer of forests.
