( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11 – 16. 11 )
Ephutomma continua aurea: Bischoff 1920: 151 , ♂ non Ψ. Misidentification. Ephutomma bicolor: Invrea 1965b: 65 , ♂ (Hadhramaut). Misidentification.
Diagnosis
The male of this new species can be distinguished from that of the Palaearctic Dentilla dichroa ( Sichel et Radoszkowski 1870) in having the apex of T7 rounded (straight or emarginated in dichroa ), in having golden felt lines on T2 and S2 (whitish in dichroa ), in having a more infuscated forewing (infuscated spot beyond the marginal cell in dichroa ), in having differring shape and setae of volsella (long setae of basivolsella project over apex of gonostylus in dichroa ).
Description
MALE. Body length 8.0– 12.8 mm. Head width 0.9X thorax width including tegulae. Clypeus deeply concave with narrow median process anteriorly and short acute basal median carina, clypeal surface sparsely finely punctate. Scape distinctly bicarinate beneath, upper ridge visible basally. Ocelli large, POD: OOD 0.7X; POD equal to maximal diameter of posterior ocellus; distance between posterior ocellus and posterior head margin 2.0X POD. Frons with deep longitudinal median furrow. First flagellomere length 1.2–1.3X its width, 2.4–2.7X pedicel, and 0.55–0.6X flagellomere 2, the latter 1.1–1.2X flagellomere 3. Antennal sockets with arcuate carina. Mandible quadridentate with strong curved upper carina, with large tooth beneath near the base, all inner teeth more or less equal, subbasal one with hair tuft ventrally. Vertex sparsely punctate, genae densely punctate. Pronotal dorsum almost straight anteriorly, pronotal width 1.2–1.3X propodeal width (on spiracle line). Scutum with well developed parascutal carinae. Metasternal process with denticles. Posterior coxae carinate inside. Tegulae slightly projecting over mesoscutoscutellar suture, shining, glabrous, with a few punctures inside. Propodeum abrupt, reticulate with median dorsal longitudinal cell distinctly delimited posteriorly by two denticles. Relative length of R abscissas is 1.3(1.0): 1.0: 1.4(1.1): 2.0(1.4). Metasomal segment 1 carinate beneath, its length 1.0–1.1X its maximal width; segment 2 with long lateral felt lines on T2 and short ones on S2, length of felt line on S2 approximately equal to distance between felt line and posterior border of S2; T2 with dense large punctures, sparser on disc. T7 weakly rounded apically, with large dense punctures. Volsella of genitalia as in Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11 – 16. 11 .
Head, palps, mesosoma, tegulae, legs, T1 basally, and S1 yellowishred. Antenna yellowishred with brown apex. Mandible yellowishred with dark denticles. Metasoma black. Mid and hind tibial spurs whitish. Wings hyaline with brown veins, forewing (distal of cells) distinctly infuscated, darker toward anterior margin. Body and legs clothed with recumbent short and scattered long erect whitish pubescence; T2–T6 and S2–S6 with apical fringes of whitish setae which denser on T2; felt lines on T2 and S2 golden.
FEMALE. Unknown.
