Tropidotilla fimbriata ( Klug 1829)

Mutilla fimbriata Klug 1829 : [15], tab. 4, fig. 3, Ψ "ex Aegypto, ... varietas duplo minor in Arabia felici" [ Egypt, Yemen], syntypes in ZMHU.

Mutilla litoralis var. fimbriata: André 1910: 7 , Ψ.

Tropidotilla fimbriata: Bischoff 1920: 156 , Ψ; Invrea 1960: 206, Ψ; Suárez 1963: 925, Ψ; Lelej 2002: 49, Ψ.

Material examined

Yemen: Wadi Surdud, 28–29.XII.1991, AvH, 1 Ψ [ ZMAN]; Lahj, XI–XII.1999, MT, AvH & A. Sallam, 1 Ψ [ IBSS]; 12 km NW Manakhah, 15.V–23.VI.2003, MT, AvH, 1 Ψ [ RMNH]; Aden, Mohur, 9.VIII.1983, 1 Ψ, A. Mochi [ MRSN].

Remarks

The female of Tropidotilla fimbriata has almost quadrate mesosoma as it was mentioned in the original description ( Klug 1829). The other female species has elongate mesosoma (mesosoma length 1.3X its maximal width) and we associated it with males of T. milmili that have a narrower mesosoma than T. frontalis and T. bellii . Definitely, T. fimbriata is the opposite sex of T. frontalis or T. bellii , but the synonymy will be proposed when the status of T. bellii is clarified.
