14. Stromanthe lubbersiana É.Morren (1882: 21) View in CoL
≡ Ctenanthe lubbersiana (É.Morren) Petersen (1890a: 159) View in CoL
Lectotype (designated here):—[illustration] tab. I in Morren (1882).
Note:— Stromanthe lubbersiana was described in 1882 based on a plant presented as Phrynium lubbersi hort. by Jacob-Makoy’s company a year before. Morren (1882: 22) placed this species in the genus Stromanthe , provided a list of known species, and a plate illustrating the habit and leaves of S. lubbersiana , which is designated as lectotype. This species was named after Mr. Louis Lubbers, chief of culture in Brussels Botanical Garden.
Excluded name:
15. Calathea mirabilis Jacob-Makoy ex É. Morren (1874a: 228)
≡ Phyllodes mirabilis (Jacob-Makoy ex É.Morren) Kuntze (1891: 696) View in CoL
≡ Goeppertia mirabilis (Jacob-Makoy ex É.Morren) Borchs. & Suárez ( Borchsenius et al. 2012: 632) View in CoL
Note:— Calathea mirabilis View in CoL is described as having narrowly lanceolate and elongated leaves with ornamentation on the secondary veins, consisting of sessile and decurrent macules of a darker color against a greyish-colored background ( Morren 1874a: 228).Although this description is detailed, this ornamentation pattern is not uncommon in Marantaceae View in CoL , and several Goeppertia species present the same pattern (e.g. G. bachemiana (É. Morren) Borchs. & Suárez View in CoL , G. bella (W.Bull) Borchs. & Suárez View in CoL , G. concinna (W.Bull) Borchs. & Suárez View in CoL ). A plate or a specimen were not published by Morren, and since there are no further descriptions directly related to this taxon, this name is considered uncertain.
