Atherimorpha White, 1915: 41 . Type­species: Atherimorpha vernalis White, 1915 , from Tasmania (by monotypy).

Bicalcar Lindner, 1923: 4 . Type­species: Chrysopilus obscuripennis Loew, 1873 , from Transcaspia (by monotypy) ( Hennig 1955: 427, Paramonov 1962: 153).

Philippoleptis Malloch, 1931: 276 . Type­species: Leptis praefica Philippi, 1865 , from Chile ( James 1975: 1).

Therevirhagio Lindner, 1925: 20 . Type­species: Therevirhagio setosiradiata Lindner, 1925 , from Australia (by monotypy) ( Hennig 1955: 427).

Diagnosis: Atherimorpha species are characterized mainly by a two­segmented maxillary palpus, holoptic eyes in females and dichoptic eyes in males; eyes facets homogeneous; antenna with scape and pedicel subglobose in form, first flagellomere conical or onionshaped, and long arista; tibial spurs 0:2:2 well developed; vein R 2+3 ending in C far beyond R 1 ( Nagatomi 1982b).
