Type Locality: Australia, Queensland, Cooktown (Black Mtn).
Vernacular Names: Godman's Rock-wallaby.
Distribution: Near Mt. Carbine and Mitchell River, north to Bathurst Head, west to "Pinnacles" ( Australia).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Threatened by genetic introgression from P. assimilis .
Discussion: P. lateralis / penicillata species-group. Included in penicillata in a preliminary account by Poole (1979:21). Separated as a full species by Eldredge and Close (1992).
