Psyrassa ludmilakozlovae View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figs. 1–4 View FIGURES 1 – 10. 1 – 4 )

Description. Holotype female. Integument brown; parts of mandibles, base and apex of pronotum, and legs (except

coxae) dark-brown; antennae dark-brown, gradually brown toward distal segments; coxae partially reddish-brown. Head. Frontal plate sub-triangular, smooth, glabrous. Lateral area between frontal plate and base of antennal tubercles with deep fovea. Area between antennal tubercles and posterior edge of upper eye lobes moderately finely, sparsely punctate (slightly rugose between upper eye lobes), except smooth central area close to frontal plate; with short, very sparse, decumbent, yellowish setae. Remaining surface of vertex finely, shallowly, sparsely punctate (punctures closer, more conspicuous laterally close to prothoracic margin); with short, sparse, decumbent, yellowish setae. Area behind upper eye lobes coarsely punctate (punctures oblong, more abundant toward prothoracic margin); with short, yellowish, sparse, yellowish setae close to eye, interspersed with some long, erect setae. Area behind lower eye lobes tumid, smooth close to eye, finely, sparsely punctate toward prothoracic margin; with short, sparse, yellowish setae close to inferior side of eye. Genae, in dorsal view, distinctly acute at apex; moderately short (area between lower eye lobes and mandibles short); finely, sparsely punctate toward ventral side and dorsally close to eye, smooth toward apex dorsally; glabrous dorsally, with short, decumbent, sparse, yellowish setae ventrally. Antennal tubercles finely, sparsely punctate on base, smooth on apex and area near fovea; with short, sparse, yellowish setae. Coronal suture distinct from apex of frontal plate to near area between upper eye lobes. Postclypeus minutely, abundantly punctate on narrow area close to anteclypeus, finely, sparsely punctate laterally under frontal plate, smooth laterally; with short, decumbent, sparse, yellowish setae, laterally with one long, erect, yellowish seta near fovea. Labrum minutely, abundantly punctate on base, smooth toward apex; with short and long golden setae directed forward. Gula glabrous, smooth, except some transverse sulcus toward submentum. Submentum striate-punctate; with short, sub-erect, yellowish setae interspersed with long, erect setae (mainly laterally). Distance between upper eye lobes 0.70 times length of scape; distance between lower eye lobes in frontal view 0.85 times length of scape. Antennae 1.35 times elytral length, almost reaching elytral apex. Scape moderately coarsely, abundantly punctate dorsally on basal half, and laterally on basal 2/3, smooth dorsally on distal half and laterally on distal third; sparsely, shallowly punctate ventrally; with short, decumbent, sparse, yellowish setae dorsally and laterally (laterally with some long, erect setae), with distinctly long, erect, sparse, yellowish setae ventrally. Antennomeres III–XI with short, decumbent, yellowish setae, interspersed with long, erect, yellowish setae (mainly ventrally; shorter, sparser toward distal segments). Apical spine of antennomere III slightly curved, acute at apex, with 0.75 times length of antennomere; apical spine of antennomere IV with 0.4 times length of antennomere; apical spine of antennomere V with 0.2 times length of antennomere; apical spine of antennomere VI with 0.25 times length of antennomere; apical spine of antennomere VII with 0.15 times length of scape; antennomere VIII with spicule at inner apex. Antennal formula (ratio) based on length of antennomere III (excluding spine): scape = 1.23; pedicel = 0.23; IV = 0.94; V = 1.07; VI = 1.00; VII = 1.23; VIII = 1.15; IX = 1.11; X = 1.03; XI = 1.34.

Thorax. Prothorax distinctly longer than wide (1.35 times); sides rounded about middle, with distinct constriction on basal fifth; lateral surface smooth close to base, coarsely, confluently punctate on large central region, with transverse, wide sulcus near distal margin, slightly tumid, smooth between punctate region and sulcus; with long, erect, sparse, yellowish setae except on glabrous smooth basal region. Pronotum depressed basally and distally; coarsely, partially confluently punctate on large central area except smooth central region on basal half; finely rugose-punctate on basal depressed region; gradually smooth toward distal margin on anterior depressed region; with long, erect, sparse, yellowish setae throughout. Prosternum transversely striate throughout (striate-punctate laterally on basal half); with long, erect, sparse, yellowish setae throughout, more abundant on basal half; sides of basal half with short, decumbent, yellowish setae; prosternal process longitudinally sulcate centrally, with short, moderately abundant, yellowish setae. Ventral side of mesothorax with short, yellowish-white pubescence, less distinct on center of mesosternum. Metepisternum with abundant, yellowish-white pubescence. Metasternum finely, sparsely punctate interspersed with some coarser punctures; with yellowish-white pubescence on narrow area close to metepisterna, with long, erect, sparse, yellowish setae on remaining surface (almost glabrous centrally). Scutellum with dense, yellowish-white pubescence. Elytra. Moderately coarsely and abundantly punctate on basal third, gradually finer, sparser toward apex; apex emarginate, with long spine at outer angle, short spine at sutural angle; with short and long, erect, sparse, yellowish setae throughout. Legs. Femora finely, sparsely punctate, except distal area coarsely, partially confluently punctate; with short, decumbent, sparse, yellowish setae interspersed with long, erect setae. Tibiae longitudinally carinate laterally; with short and long, yellowish setae, distinctly longer ventrally, mainly on distal 2/3.

Abdomen. Ventrites finely, sparsely punctate; with short and long, erect, sparse, yellowish setae, more abundant on ventrite V; apex of ventrite V truncate.

Dimensions. Total length, 14.90; prothorax: length, 2.90; anterior width, 1.80; posterior width, 1.95; largest prothoracic width, 2.15; humeral width, 2.95; elytral length, 9.80.

Type material. Holotype female from COLOMBIA, Boyacá: Carretera Úmbita-Villapinzón (3,250 m; 05°12’34”N / 73°31’25”W), 13.XI.2013, Victor Sinjaev & Mildred Marquéz col. ( MZSP). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The new species is named after Ludmila Ivanovna Kozlova, a special request of Anton Olegovich Kozlov who sent and donated the holotype to MZSP collection.

Remarks. Psyrassa ludmilakozlovae sp. nov. resembles P. nigripes Linsley, 1935 , mainly by the general color of the body and legs, but differs as follows: antennomeres III–VII with distinct spine at inner apex; elytral apex emarginate and bispinose. In P. nigripes , only the antennomeres III–IV have distinct spine at inner apex, and the elytral apex is truncate and unarmed. The new species differs from P. nigricornis Bates, 1892 by the antennomere VII with short, but distinct spine (absent in P. nigricornis ), and by the femora dark (reddish-brown in P. nigricornis ). It can be separated from P. testacea Linsley, 1935 by the antennomere VII with distinct spine at inner apex (absent in P. testacea ), by the legs dark (reddish-brown in P. testacea ), and by the spines of elytral apex longer (with short projection at outer and sutural angle in P. testacea ). It differs from P. castanea Bates, 1880 mainly by the antennae and legs dark (reddish-brown in P. castanea ). It differs from P. cribricollis (Bates, 1885) mainly by the middle- and hind legs not clavate (clavate in P. cribricollis ).
