( Figs 1–3 View FIGURES 1 – 5 )
Differential diagnosis. Rhorus koreensis sp. nov. is similar to the Eastern Palaearctic Rh. melanogaster Kasparyan, 2012 and Rh. nigritarsis (Hedwig, 1956) in having rather slender tergite 1, blackish body and femora, and claws densely pectinate. It may easily be distinguished from both of these species and other congeners by the combination of yellow coloration of ventral side of scape, pedicel, and apical half of scutellum, with blackish ovipositor sheath.
Description. Female (holotype).
Length of fore wing 6.5 mm. Flagellum with 31 flagellomeres, about as long as fore wing; two basal flagellomeres 0.95 × as long as maximum diameter of eye; first flagellomere 4.2 × as long as wide at apex. Head not narrowed posteriorly; length of temple in middle 0.9 × transverse eye diameter; cheek below eye convex; temples with moderately fine and rather sparse punctures, average distances between punctures 2–3 × their diameter. Face not widened downwards (with parallel lateral sides), smooth and evenly covered with rather coarse punctures, average distances between punctures equal to their diameter. Frons smooth, with punctures distinct, sparser and smaller than at face. Clypeus hardly separated from face by very superficial depression, smooth, with sparse, moderately large punctures; its lower margin obtuse. Malar space 0.5 × as long as basal width of mandible. Upper tooth of mandible slightly shorter than lower one; mandible distinctly swollen before base, smooth, with a few large large punctures, with sharp transverse depression at base. Oral carina slightly higher than occipital carina and 0.45 × as long as basal width of mandible.
Pronotum with weak epomia, smooth behind epomia and with moderately large distinct punctures, average distances between punctures equal to 1–2 × their diameter. Mesoscutum with fine moderately dense punctures. Mesopleuron (except for speculum) with moderately large dense uniform punctures; speculum large, covering about 0.75 × length of mesopleuron, polished part below mesopleural pit expands to hind corner of mesopleuron. Scutellum rather finely punctate, with dense punctures at apex. Apex of postscutellum mat, densely punctate.
Metapleuron smooth with moderately fine punctures in upper half, rugose in lower half. Propodeum shining, with superficial rugosity, smooth with scarce punctures on first and second lateral areas; basal area weakly elongate, slightly narrower than areola, weakly separated from it; costulae obsolete ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ); apical area 0.3 × as long as basal area and areola combined.
Pterostigma nearly 3.4 × as long as wide. Second and third segments of fore tarsus elongate; fore claws with ~ 13 dense high teeth. Hind femur 3.9 × as long as wide; proportion of the length of tarsomeres 1–5 of hind tarsus 7.2: 3.3: 2.4: 1.3: 2.6; hind claw with five high and rather rare teeth in its apical part and with four to five small dense basal teeth.
Tergite 1 gradually narrowed from apex to base; 2 × as long as wide at hind margin ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ); its longitudinal dorsal carinae distinct up to apical 0.7, space between carinae smooth, impunctate; dorsolateral carinae complete. Tergite 1 beyond spiracles and tergite 2 completely smooth and more or less evenly covered with distinct punctures, average distances between punctures equal to 1–2 × their diameter; at apical part of tergite 2 punctures scarcer. Tergite 3 with punctures finer than those on tergite 2; tergites 4–7 smooth, with very fine punctures.
Color. Antenna blackish dorsally; scape and pedicel light yellow ventrally; flagellum in basal third yellow ventrally, then darkened to apex (from yellowish to brownish and to blackish on apical segments). Head black; face, clypeus, malar space and cheeks (from base of mandible to level of lower 0.15 of eye) whitish yellow; mandible pale yellow, with reddish brown teeth; palpi whitish. Thorax black with hind corner of pronotum, tegula, weak line on subtegular ridge, epimeron, scutellum (except for base and lateral sides) and apex postscutellum yellow. Pterostigma blackish brown, with inconspicuous pale spot at base. Fore and middle coxa light yellow, middle coxa brownish at extreme base. All trochanters yellow, except for small brownish dorsal spot on hind trochanter I. Fore femur light brown posteriorly and light yellow at apex and anteriorly; middle femur predominantly brown with yellowish line anteriorly and yellow apex. Fore and middle tibiae and tarsi light yellowish. Hind coxa and hind femur black; hind tibia dirty yellowish with small blackish spot at extreme base and widely blackish at apical 0.4; spurs light yellowish; hind tarsus dark brown, with basal 0.5 of basitarsus and extreme base of tarsomeres 2 and 3 yellowish. All abdominal tergites black; epipleura of tergites 2 and 3, ventral margin of epipleura 4, 5 and sternites 1–4 dirty whitish, sternites 2–4 with a lateral brown spot; sternites 5 and 6 entirely brown (except for membranous base of sternite 5). Ovipositor sheath black.
