Diagnosis. F. furcipennis can be distinguished from other species of Faltala by the male pygofer ventral lobe extending well beyond dorsal half of pygofer and not terminating in a claw-like spine, subgenital plate lateral margin sinuate and tapering to rounded apex, style apophysis incrassate and club-like, aedeagus branched and vaguely Tshaped in lateral view, and aedeagal shaft relatively thick and arising dorsally from base of aedeagus.

Material examined. 4♂, PARAGUAY, N Cnel. Bogado, 7-VI-1975, sweeping, Granovsky & Elzinga [ SEMC] .

Distribution. F. furcipennis is known only from Paraguay (Itapúa Dept.).

Remarks. The species misidentified and figured in Remes Lenicov & Paradell (2009) as F. furcipennis appears to represent an undescribed species with some similarity in the shape of the aedeagus to F. catalanoae but differs significantly in the shape of the male pygofer and female sternite VII.
