Hecalocorica bidentata Nielson, 1996 a:126 View in CoL [original description, illustration, morphology]; Zanol, 2006: 98 [catalogue]; Zahniser, 2007 [online catalogue]; Freytag & Gaiani, 2017 [online catalogue, holotype illustrated, “ allotype ” illustrated]
Diagnosis. H. bidentata is currently the only known species of the genus.
Material examined. 1♀ (“ allotype ”), 2n: COSTA RICA, San José , pass on Highway 1 [sic], km 88, Cerro de la Muerte, 8-V-1995, Baumann & Houseman [ MZCR] . 1♂, COSTA RICA, San José Prov. , 29 mi. N Sanisidro de El General, 11,000’, 10-VII-1974, C.W. & L. O’Brien & G.B. Marshall [ USNM] .
Distribution. Costa Rica (San Jose Prov.)
Remarks. The exact locality of the male examined here seems difficult to verify from the label, “ 29 mi. N Sanisidro de General”. An image of the holotype is provided by Freytag & Gaiani (online catalogue, http://neotropicalcicadellidae.myspecies.info/taxonomy/term/5214/media). The female genitalia and nymph are illustrated for the first time here.
