Material examined. Holotype 3, New Zealand: SL, Longwood Range, Bald Hill, 700 m, 46°11’50’’S / 167°50’00’’E, 26.i.1999, cloud forest, Nothofagus menziesii , sifting ground moss and lichens (M.-C. Larivière & A. Larochelle) (dry mounted, NZAC).

Paratypes, New Zealand: South Island: 1 Ƥ, 1 nymph, SL, Longwood Range, Bald Hill, 800 m, 10.ii.1992, rain forest (D. Burckhardt) #43 (dry and slide mounted, MHNG); 1 3, same but Bald Hill, lower site, 15.x.2008 (G. W. Gibbs), JD#2309 (dry, ZMUC); 2 3, 1 Ƥ, FD, West Side of Lake Hauroko, 12.xi.1966, moss from wet bank (F. D. Alack) (dry mounted, MONZ, NZAC).

Description. Adult. Coloration. Ochreous to brown; clavus dark brown, remigium lighter.

Structure. Body, in dorsal view, oblong-oval. Head with strongly curved fore margin; anterior rim indistinctly delimited from membrane; areolae, in longitudinal body axis, relatively long; eyes moderately recessive; hind margin of eye and postero-lateral margin of head forming an obtuse angle. Pronotum with distinct median longitudinal ridge, smooth posteriorly, at most finely punctate postero-laterally. Paranota relatively large, about as wide anteriorly as posteriorly, with widely curved margins; smooth postero-ventrally. Tegmen with vein M reduced basally, basal radial cell without additional veins in apical half of vein M+CuA. Male anal tube narrowly oval, in dorsal view, widest in basal third, irregularly narrowing to apex, with slightly sinuous margins. Pygophore with comparatively long and narrow median posterior tooth; postero-lateral edges distinctly angular. Parameres short, rounded apically. Aedeagus, in anterior view, with broad, irregularly rounded head, narrowed subapically, and almost subquadrate antero-proximal lobes; posterior outline of neck, in profile, with distinct angle; spines on neck indistinct, a few at most. Female tergite 9 with ventral margin strongly indented in apical third. Ventral teeth of valvulae 1 moderately large.

Etymology. From Greek αδελφός = brother, referring to the great morphological similarity to other Xenophyes species.
