Distribution. Only known from part of the middle São Francisco River basin, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil ( Rossi et al. 2020).
Previous records in Minas Gerais. None.
Remarks. Macrobrachium veredensis is morphologically similar to M. brasiliense (Heller, 1862) , which is found in many rivers of South America and rivers of Minas Gerais ( Rossi et al. 2020; see material examined of M. brasiliense above). According to Rossi et al. (2020), M. veredensis differs from M. brasiliense by the presence of a smooth carapace and few spinules on the second pereopods, in addition to the genetic difference measured in molecular analysis.
