Type locality. Described from off Palermo (Sicily).

Remarks. Recorded by MolluscaBase (2018) as a synonym of Neopycnodonte cochlear (Poli, 1795) .

Type material. MCZR–M–5588 —2 sh “ P. frigida Monts. Ficarazzi sarebbe bene figurare in modo che si veda il tallone”.

Type locality. Described from Ficarazzi † (Sicily).

Remarks. We cannot decide whether it is a distinct fossil species or it belongs in the variation of Neopycnodonte cochlear (Poli, 1795) .
